Ather Energy, a leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has announced significant changes to the pricing and warranty structures of its popular models, the Ather Rizta and the 450 Series. With these updates, the company aims to facilitate greater electric vehicle adoption amongst consumers.

Price Reductions and Battery as a Service (BaaS)

The introduction of BaaS has led to a reduction in the entry price for the Ather Rizta S, now available at ₹75,999 (ex-showroom), and the 450 Series with the entry-level 450S priced at ₹84,341 (ex-showroom). Before the implementation of BaaS, the Ather Rizta S was priced at ₹1,04,999 (ex-showroom), and the 450 Series with the entry-level 450S was priced at ₹1,19,841 (ex-showroom).

The BaaS service begins at ₹1 per kilometre, calculated on a 48-month package, and has a minimum monthly distance requirement of 1,000 km. This service provides potential buyers with the opportunity to own an Ather scooter with a more affordable upfront cost.

Extended Comprehensive Warranty Programme

Ather Energy has also launched an Extended Comprehensive Warranty programme to provide enhanced assurance for long-term ownership. This programme covers the battery pack and eleven critical components, including the motor, motor controller, dashboard, and charging equipment, for up to five years or 60,000km. This extended warranty is available to all AtherStack Pro subscribers, making the Ather Rizta and the 450 Series even more attractive for potential buyers.

Assured Buyback Scheme

In addition to the price reductions and extended warranty, Ather has also updated its Assured Buyback scheme. The scheme now guarantees up to 60% of the scooter's original value after three years, and up to 50% of the scooter's original value after four years, subject to mileage conditions.

Considering Monthly Mileage

Potential buyers of Ather scooters need to carefully calculate their expected monthly mileage to ensure the pricing structure remains economical. With the BaaS service starting at ₹1 per kilometre, those with higher mileage will benefit from the lower cost-per-kilometre compared to the initial purchase price.

The Ather Rizta and the 450 Series are now available with Battery As A Service (BaaS) subscription plans. This move by Ather Energy is expected to contribute significantly to the adoption of electric vehicles in India, making them more accessible and affordable for a wider audience.
