The intricate overhaul of the Ring Centre's remodeling process

The renovation of Ring Center I in Friedrichshain is set to bring significant changes to the local area, while plans for a high-rise and the buildings east of the Ringbahn remain unaffected for now.

According to the plans, a high-rise with a height of 128 meters will be constructed on part of the site, necessitating the adjustment of a portion of the existing Ring Center. The architectural firm Graft has been tasked with the renovation. Kintyre, the owner of the building, will oversee the renovation according to their plans.

The new Ring Center I will undergo a dramatic transformation, shedding its outdated 1990s architecture for a significantly refreshed design. The building will feature many more windows, making it brighter and more open. This modernisation will extend to the interior as well, with a focus on offices, medical practices, and a fitness studio on the upper floors, and retail, food, and services on the lower floors.

One of the most notable additions will be a bio-market on the ground floor, along with additional food offerings. The access situation in the area is set to improve, particularly the connection to and from the S-Bahn, which will be architecturally expanded and lead to the central ground floor level.

The existing buildings east of the Ringbahn, Ring Center II and Ring Center III, will remain as they are for the time being. However, the plans for the extension of the A100 will need to be clarified before these buildings can be sensibly replanned.

In summary, the renovation of Ring Center I promises to breathe new life into the area, while the high-rise and the buildings east of the Ringbahn continue to stand as they are. The focus on offices, medical practices, and a fitness studio on the upper floors, combined with retail, food, and services on the lower floors, will create a vibrant and modern space for the community.
