In the quiet town of Lübeck, a tragic incident occurred on August 28, 2025, when a fatal traffic accident took place on Bundesstraße 76 near Dodauer Forest.

The accident, which occurred around 17:30, involved a Ford car driven by a 21-year-old individual from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and a tractor with a trailer. Sadly, the young driver lost their life at the scene. The tractor's 17-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was able to escape.

Upon receiving the call, emergency services, including police, fire departments, ambulance, and a helicopter emergency doctor, rushed to the scene. The tractor caught fire following the collision, leading to a significant amount of hazardous materials being spilled at the scene. As a result, contaminated soil next to the road had to be excavated during the night, requiring the assistance of a specialist company.

The federal highway 76 was closed until the following morning to allow for a thorough investigation and cleanup. The police in Eutin are currently investigating the exact circumstances and cause of the accident.

The burned-out tractor and the Ford were seized by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Lübeck to clarify the exact cause of the accident. The total damage is estimated at around 360,000 euros.
