The Commission reported that the financial assistance was provided as a public grant aimed at reorganizing the specific enterprise.

In the past week, teams from local associations across Bavaria have been deployed to aid in the ongoing forest fire fighting efforts in Thuringia and Saxony. The Technical Relief Agency (THW) of Bavaria has been providing assistance both domestically and through the European Union's civil protection mechanism, as well as at the request of UN organizations.

Localities such as Selb, Mellrichstadt, Marktredwitz, Bayreuth, Kirchehrenbach, Forchheim, and Aschaffenburg have contributed personnel to the relief efforts. THW Kronach's personnel were dispatched to Thuringia last week as part of the Upper Franconia assistance contingent, taking on leadership and coordination tasks at the deployment sites.

The special unit "Water Damage/Pumps" of the THW is currently on standby, ready to deploy to Saxony at short notice. They traveled with two water transport containers with a capacity of approximately 10,000 liters to the affected area. The high-performance pumps have been loaded onto the truck by the deployed personnel, and a staging area has been set up to provide supplies for their operations in Gohrischheide.

The THW's mission in Thuringia on the Saalfelder Height has since been successfully completed. However, the organization continues to support operations in Gohrischheide, where around 50 Bavarian THW personnel are currently engaged. They are supporting the catering for around 600 deployed forces, providing essential supplies, and ensuring the smooth running of operations.

The THW is a federal operational organization carried by volunteers, with around 88,000 volunteers nationwide supporting its work in civil protection. For more information on the THW's commitment, visit www.thw.de. Inquiries should be directed to THW Regional Association Bavaria at (089) 15 91 51 - 655 or [email protected].

The THW's work encompasses a wide range of tasks, including leadership, coordination, catering, and supply provision for thousands of firefighters and aid organizations. They are called upon by the federal government both domestically and internationally for technical and logistical tasks.

The current city in Saxony where more than 50 Bavarian THW members are engaged in fighting forest fires is Freiberg. This is confirmed by the cooperation agreement signed on August 16, 2025, between the Saxony State Fire Brigade Association and Sachsenforst in Freiberg, aimed at improving forest fire prevention and response. The THW's work in these regions is a testament to the organization's commitment to helping those in need during times of crisis.
