Thailand unveils Blue Jasmine, a mobile boutique hotel ready to compete among roadside luxury accommodations

Thailand is set to launch a new luxury heritage train named The Blue Jasmine in November 2025. Operated by DTH Travel and the State Railway of Thailand, this restored 1960s Japanese sleeper train promises an unforgettable journey through the cultural and natural wealth of the country.

The Blue Jasmine accommodates a maximum of 37 passengers in 10 restored carriages, offering three cabin categories: Classic, Premium, and Premium Suite, each with varying amenities. Stefan Bruns, Thailand General Manager at DTH Travel, describes the Blue Jasmine as "slow travel at its finest."

The nine-day itinerary travels from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and back, with stops at UNESCO-recognized cities such as Ayutthaya, Uthai Thani, and Sukhothai. Beyond the train, the journey includes overnight stays in heritage hotels to continue the immersion off the rails.

Dining on The Blue Jasmine features refined menus prepared by top chefs using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The dining experience reflects both Thai culinary traditions and international tastes. Guests can unwind in the Panorama Lounge, sip craft cocktails, and watch Thailand's landscapes through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The cultural program includes pottery-making workshops, riverside almsgiving, silk-weaving demonstrations, and mountain picnics. This unique combination of heritage restoration and contemporary luxury embodies the spirit of modern Thai tourism.

Interest in The Blue Jasmine is expected to be high due to its limited capacity and unique positioning. Thailand's tourism policies are being adjusted to balance accessibility with sustainable management of arrivals, ensuring the benefits of tourism are preserved for both the country and its visitors.

Thailand is seeing a strong rebound in arrivals, with more than 28 million international visitors recorded in 2024. Despite not being positioned at the very top tier of global train luxury, The Blue Jasmine offers a distinctive premium product that balances comfort with authenticity.

Visitors to Thailand should note that visa-free stays will be reduced to 30 days for many international visitors. Nevertheless, the allure of The Blue Jasmine and the rich experiences it promises are likely to draw travellers from around the world.

Slow down, look closer, and engage more deeply with the cultural and natural wealth of Thailand on board The Blue Jasmine. Your journey awaits.
