Texas football quarterback Arch Manning's hype takes a hit, according to sports analyst Joel Klatt, following the team's Week 1 loss.

In the opening week of the college football season, the Texas Longhorns faced the reigning champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite a valiant effort from the Texas defense, which held Ohio State's talented offense, including star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, in check, the Longhorns ultimately came up short, losing 14-7.

The performance of quarterback Arch Manning, the highly-touted freshman, drew a mix of reactions on social media. Manning threw for 170 yards during the game, completing 17 of his 30 pass attempts. However, he also threw one interception and had a difficult time moving the ball down the field, despite having a reasonable amount of time in the pocket.

One college football insider, Joel Klatt, suggested that people should lower their expectations for Manning. Despite the challenging debut, Manning did manage to throw one touchdown pass during the game. A significant portion of his yardage came in the fourth quarter, when Ohio State implemented a prevent defense for a stretch.

The loss to Ohio State is expected to result in a drop in Texas' national ranking. The Longhorns have a few less challenging games coming up before they start their SEC schedule against Florida on October 4. They will face San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston in the next few weeks.

Before the match against Florida, Manning will be trained by the University of Texas Longhorns football program to prepare for the upcoming challenge. As the dust settles on the season's first week, fans and analysts alike will be eagerly watching Manning's progress and the Longhorns' performance in the coming games.
