Brandenburg Introduces Citizen Hotline for Administrative Inquiries

The Brandenburg municipality of Grünheide (Mark) has launched a new citizen's hotline, providing residents with a quick and reliable means to clarify administrative questions related to passports, birth certificates, housing benefits, and more.

The hotline, available under the number 115, is part of an ongoing effort to provide comprehensive coverage throughout Brandenburg. This pilot project is being tested in the Oder-Spree district for a duration of 4 to 6 weeks.

Employees at the IT service center (ITDZ) Berlin will utilise a knowledge database to answer inquiries, ensuring that citizens receive accurate and timely information.

Benjamin Grimm (SPD), Minister of Justice and for Digitalization of the state of Brandenburg, stated that the aim is to bring information closer to citizens. He has been serving in this role since late 2024 and focuses on digitalization initiatives including electronic registrations and the use of AI in justice.

The hotline service is not limited to specific matters concerning the municipality, state, or federal government. Citizens can call the hotline from Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00.

The state of Brandenburg handles around 1.6 million inquiries annually through this service. A chatbot on the website is still planned to provide additional information.

This hotline service is part of an ongoing effort to expand the offerings of the citizen's hotline throughout Brandenburg. The pilot project is just the beginning of a broader range of services via the citizen service hotline 115 as part of gradually expanding Brandenburg's citizen service offerings.

Minister Grimm emphasised that this initiative is a significant step towards making government services more accessible and user-friendly for all Brandenburg citizens.
