Tesla Unveils Enhanced Model Y Performance in Germany
Tesla, Inc. has introduced an improved version of the Model Y Performance in Germany, marking a significant leap in electric vehicle technology for the European market. The new Model Y Performance, set to begin deliveries in September, boasts enhanced performance, increased range, and a host of new features.
Produced at the German Tesla factory, the Model Y Performance features a net battery capacity of 82-84 kilowatt hours, a 5-kilowatt hour increase compared to its predecessor. This upgrade translates to a range of 580 kilometers, a 66-kilometer improvement, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its class.
The Model Y Performance is not just about range, though. It boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.5 seconds, a reduction of two tenths compared to the previous model. Under the hood, the powertrain offers more torque and power, coupled with improved efficiency, ensuring a thrilling driving experience.
Inside, the Model Y Performance offers a refined cabin with carbon fiber decor and front seats with enhanced support. The display has also grown to 16 inches, similar to the six-seater Tesla Model Y L. The rear of the vehicle features a more pronounced spoiler, and the exterior design has been updated for high-speed driving.
The Model Y Performance is the top-tier variant in the Model Y lineup, available for a price of 61,990 euros in Germany. For those seeking a more affordable option, the entry-level Model Y with a smaller LFP battery and rear-wheel drive starts at 44,990 euros. The Model Y Long Range RWD, priced at 49,990 euros, features a larger battery and is also rear-wheel drive. For an additional 3,000 euros, this model can be upgraded to all-wheel drive, offering a range of 586 kilometers.
Interestingly, the Model Y Performance's range is only 6 kilometers less than the all-wheel drive Model Y Long Range, despite having larger wheels. The vehicle also boasts an advanced adaptive suspension that adjusts in real-time, contributing to its impressive performance and handling.
The new Model Y Performance's consumption has been reduced to 162 watt hours per kilometer, further cementing its position as a leader in electric vehicle efficiency. With its enhanced performance, increased range, and sleek design, the Model Y Performance is poised to redefine the electric SUV market in Europe.
