Tesla formally introduces the Model Y in China, with deliveries slated to start in September.

Tesla has announced the launch of the Model Y L, an extended variant of its best-selling electric SUV, in China. The Model Y L is set to begin deliveries in September and is now available for orders in the country.

The Model Y L boasts a number of impressive features, starting with its second-generation suspension system with continuous variable damping. This system is designed to provide smoother rides over diverse road conditions, offering a comfortable journey for passengers.

Powering the Model Y L is an 82 kWh LG NMC battery pack and a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive setup. This setup promises a 0-62 mph acceleration of 4.5 seconds, making the Model Y L a quick and responsive vehicle.

The Model Y L also offers an extended wheelbase, making it 8 inches longer than the refreshed five-seat Model Y. This added space benefits the second and third rows, making the Model Y L more suitable for adult passengers. The third row even comes with dedicated vents, heated seating, and cupholders for added comfort.

Inside the cabin, the Model Y L features a full black headliner, a silver-plated glass roof, and upgraded aluminum trim throughout. Rear passengers have an 8-inch display for climate and media control, while the driver benefits from a redesigned central touchscreen that grows to 16 inches.

The Model Y L is also equipped for rapid charging on Tesla's growing China Supercharger network. It supports 250 kW peak Supercharging, ensuring quick and efficient charging times. Tesla estimates a CLTC range of 527 miles (848km) for the Model Y L, while the EPA cycle estimates a range of about 327 miles (526km).

A notable feature of the Model Y L is the introduction of air-cooled wireless phone chargers, a first for Tesla. The Model Y L comes with powered captain's chairs in the second row, ventilated and heated with electric powered armrests, further enhancing the comfort of the vehicle.

The Model Y L is produced and sold directly by Tesla in China, marking another step in Tesla's expansion in the country. While the Model Y L is set to begin deliveries in China, the timeline for its availability internationally is uncertain. However, with its impressive features and performance, the Model Y L is sure to attract attention worldwide.
