Two players, Sinner and Swiatek, overcame challenges in the US Open, gearing up for an anticipated clash with Osaka and Gauff.

Tennis stars Hubert Hurkacz and Iga Swiatek manage nail-biting matches at the US Open, with potential encounter between Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff on the horizon.

The U.S. Open 2025 is shaping up to be a battle of attrition, with nine retirements before the end of the third round. In the singles competition, three retirements occurred on Saturday, adding to the tournament's unpredictable nature.

In a significant development, Iga Swiatek, the defending champion and world number one, is now level with Aryna Sabalenka in major match wins this season. Swiatek's impressive run includes a victory over Amanda Anisimova in the round of 16, a match in which she saved four set points in the first set and came back from being 5-1 down.

One of the most intriguing matches of the tournament so far has been Jannik Sinner's victory over Denis Shapovalov. Sinner, who has an unbeaten run at hardcourt Grand Slams that is now 24 matches long, surrendered the opening set but rallied to win with a score of 5-7 6-4 6-3 6-3. Sinner's victory was not solely due to talent, but also his ability to problem-solve, as he demonstrated throughout the match.

Another exciting match saw Felix Auger-Aliassime rally from a set down to defeat Alexander Zverev. The contest ended with a score of 4-6 7-6(7) 6-4 6-4, marking the end of Zverev's tournament at the U.S. Open.

Naomi Osaka also overcame a mid-match wobble to win her U.S. Open match against Daria Kasatkina with a score of 6-0 4-6 6-3. This sets up a highly anticipated fourth-round showdown between Osaka and Coco Gauff, a match that is expected to dominate the Labor Day headlines.

Gauff, who dismissed Magdalena Frech in her U.S. Open match with a score of 6-3 6-1, is in top form and will be a formidable opponent for Osaka.

In other news, Venus Williams and Canada's Leylah Fernandez earned a win in their first tournament together in the doubles competition.

However, the tournament has not been without its setbacks. Italy's Flavio Cobolli, Daniel Altmaier, and Poland's Kamil Majchrzak all withdrew from the U.S. Open.

As the tournament progresses, fans can expect more exciting matches and potential upsets. Stay tuned for more updates from the U.S. Open 2025.
