In an exciting turn of events, defending champion Jannik Sinner has secured his spot in the U.S. Open final. Sinner's journey to the final saw him defeat Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals, marking their second encounter this year.

Their previous meeting took place in the last tournament in Cincinnati. Sinner started the contest strongly, facing brief resistance in the fifth game but winning the first set. However, Auger-Aliassime levelled the match by securing the second set.

Sinner's victory in the U.S. Open semi-finals was not without its drama. During the match, he took a medical timeout for an unspecified issue. Despite this, Sinner reported that he did not feel anything anymore during the match and was serving at normal pace.

The U.S. Open final will pit Sinner against Carlos Alcaraz, setting up a rematch from their French Open final meeting. This encounter will mark the fourth Grand Slam final appearance in the current 2025 season for Sinner. He joins a select group of players to achieve this feat in the Open Era, including Novak Djokovic, Rod Laver, and Roger Federer.

Sinner expressed his happiness about reaching another Grand Slam final. He also mentioned that he feels their rivalry started in New York. "I'm excited about our upcoming major trilogy meeting," Sinner said.

Sinner and Alcaraz have played each other multiple times this year, with Sinner emerging victorious in their most recent match in the U.S. Open semi-finals. Their first meeting in New York took place three years ago in the quarter-finals.

After receiving treatment, Sinner stated that he felt much better. He also mentioned experiencing twitching in his stomach while serving at 4-3 in the second set but managed to overcome it.

As the U.S. Open final approaches, both Sinner and Alcaraz are gearing up for an intense battle. With both players having played each other multiple times this year, the final promises to be a thrilling encounter.
