News Article: Federal Police Implement Ban on Carrying Weapons and Dangerous Objects at Major German Railway Stations

Starting from November 29, several major railway stations across Germany will implement a ban on carrying weapons and dangerous objects. The ban, which will be in effect until December 24, will affect Main Stations in Aschaffenburg, Augsburg, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and various stations in Munich, including the main station, East Station, Pasing Station, and S-Bahn stops Marienplatz and Karlsplatz (Stachus).

The Federal Police will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the ban, working closely with Deutsche Bahn Security and local police authorities to ensure safety and enforce the rules. This cooperation is similar to the joint patrol teams at Bremen Hauptbahnhof, where Federal Police, DB Security, state police, and local authorities work together to oversee security measures.

The ban will prohibit the carrying of dangerous tools, firearms, imitation firearms, bladed weapons, and knives of all kinds. Violations of the general orders may result in the seizure of objects and the imposition of a penalty. It is important to note that the penalty for violating the general orders is independent of any criminal or administrative offense proceedings under the Weapons Act.

To inform the public about the ban and the general orders, posters will be displayed in the affected areas. For further inquiries, the Press Office of the Federal Police Directorate Munich can be contacted at the provided telephone number, fax number, email, or Twitter handle.

The ban will commence at different times for each station. Main Station Würzburg will be affected from 15:00 on November 29 until 6:00 on December 24. Main Station Regensburg will be under the ban from 9:00 on November 25 until 6:00 on December 24. Main Station Augsburg will be affected from 15:00 on November 25 until 15:00 on December 24. Main Station Nuremberg will be under the ban from 8:00 on November 29 until 16:00 on December 24. Main Station Aschaffenburg will be affected from 9:00 on November 23 until 6:00 on December 23.

The Federal Police will issue general orders from November 23, 2024, to December 24, 2024. The provisions and exceptions to the ban are contained in the general orders, which are published on the Federal Police website. The scope of the general orders includes all building parts of the railway stations and S-Bahn stops, including pedestrian tunnels, associated platforms, and all publicly accessible levels.

The information originated from the Federal Police Directorate Munich and was transmitted via news aktuell. Passengers are advised to check the Federal Police website for the latest updates and to comply with the general orders for a safe and peaceful holiday season.
