Sabah Moto Day 8.0 Unites Borneo's Motorcycling Youth

The Sabah Moto Day 8.0, a significant platform that brings together the voices, spirit, and aspirations of motorcycling youth across Borneo, recently took place. The event, which attracts tens of thousands of young people every year, was officially opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor also announced RM600,000 assistance for 11,000 e-hailing drivers in Sabah during the event. The programme, which connects youth with financial institutions such as EPF (KWSP) and BSN, aims to promote financial literacy and savings habits among the participants.

Mazlan, the organiser of Sabah Moto Day, emphasised that the event will continue to be a symbol of unity, awareness, and the aspirations of Sabah's youth. He also highlighted the event's objectives, which include promoting motorcycling culture and discouraging negative elements such as illegal racing and drug abuse.

The event, which recorded the participation of more than 60,000 motorcycles from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Brunei, Kalimantan, and Peninsular Malaysia, also fosters racial unity. Mazlan criticised those who only criticise from afar and do not participate in the efforts to improve the event, calling such criticism "political poverty".

Despite some shortcomings in crowd control and cleanliness at the event, corrective steps have been taken. The programme is organised in close collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Anti-Drug Squad.

The Chief Minister led prayers at the event and expressed solidarity for the late Zara Qairina Mahathir. Mazlan noted that comparisons with youth programmes in Sarawak are unfair, as Sabah provides diverse platforms for youth development.

Mazlan encouraged those who wish to find fault with the event to continue doing so, but emphasised that the work of building the future of youth will continue with the support of the State Government, organisers, and the thousands of young people who believe in the programme. He also dismissed the event as a "joke" and emphasised that it demonstrates social empathy, awareness, and the State Government's concern for youth.

Sabah Moto Day 8.0 was officially opened by Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin. The event delivers positive social messages and aims to be a major platform that unites the voices, spirit, and aspirations of motorcycling youth across Borneo.
