TCS collaborates with Now Telecom to fortify the Philippines' digital independence

In a significant move to bolster the Philippines' digital landscape, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Now Corporation's telecommunications arm. This partnership aims to fortify the country's digital infrastructure, advance financial inclusivity, and create a "clean network."

The collaboration aligns with the Department of Information and Communications Technology guidelines and supports the goal of a future-ready digital economy in the Philippines. TCS will deploy its SovereignSecure Cloud platform to ensure local data control, protect national data, improve cross-agency interoperability, and strengthen defenses against evolving cyber threats.

TCS will utilize its expertise in sovereign cloud technology, cyberdefense, and citizen-focused services. The Cyber Defense Suite, offered as part of the partnership, will provide tools for cyber intelligence, resilience, vendor risk management, and identity security. The initiative will also support operational continuity and local skills training.

Shiju Varghese, country head of TCS Philippines, stated, "Our aim is to help the nation build a resilient and secure digital ecosystem." He further emphasized TCS's commitment to the Philippines, having been operational in the country since 2008, serving clients in telecommunications, banking, real estate, and aviation.

The partnership will encompass projects in healthcare, digital banking, and other areas intended to bring more Filipinos into the formal financial system. Mel Velarde, chairman of Now Group, emphasized the alliance as a step towards enhancing the Philippines' national digital sovereignty and reducing reliance on foreign technologies.

Notably, both TCS and Now Corporation are members of the Trusted Network Alliance under the Trusted Network Initiative. The SovereignSecure Cloud platform will enable the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure, further bolstering the country's digital capabilities.

The merged telecommunications division of Now Corporation, which has been enhanced to promote the Philippines' digital infrastructure, financial inclusivity, and create a "clean network," is PLDT Inc.. This partnership marks a significant step forward in the country's digital transformation journey.
