Taylor Swift Collaborates with Target for Launch of 'The Life of a Showgirl'
Taylor Swift is set to release her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3, following her successful 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department. The album was recorded during tour breaks in Sweden in 2024, with Swift collaborating with producers Max Martin and Shellback, who have a history of hits with the pop star.
The producers have worked together on several previous albums, including 1989, Reputation, and more. Swift formally revealed The Life of a Showgirl during an episode of the New Heights podcast, where she also unveiled the main album artwork.
Target is celebrating the release of the album by opening 500 stores at midnight local time on October 3. The retailer has released three exclusive CD editions of The Life of a Showgirl for pre-order, each coming packaged with a folded, double-sided poster measuring 19" x 9.5".
Unlike the pre-sale versions, the Target-exclusive editions do not include photo cards or jewelry. The themes of the Target-exclusive editions are "It's Frightening," "It's Rapturous," and "It's Beautiful."
The full 12-song tracklist for The Life of a Showgirl was shared during the podcast. Swift's album will not have differing tracklists with varying covers as a means of enticing buyers.
The Life of a Showgirl is predicted to be one of the biggest albums of 2025, with a massive debut on the charts expected. The album follows the success of The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Max Martin and Shellback have a history of hits with Taylor Swift, dating back to the Red era with songs like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble." Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of The Life of a Showgirl to see what new hits the trio has in store.
