If your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) shows "SOS" or "SOS only" in the status bar, it can still make emergency calls, but if it shows No Service or Searching, it is not connected to a cellular network. In such cases, Apple suggests trying to reconnect to the cellular network by going to Settings, turning on Airplane Mode for at least 15 seconds, and then turning it off.
If the problem persists, Apple recommends restarting the device and, if necessary, updating it to the latest version.
