T-Systems appoints a Chief Sovereign Officer role

In a significant move, German IT service provider T-Systems has announced a series of changes in its leadership and strategy. The restructuring, according to CEO Ferri Abolhassan, is a response to the increasing geopolitical uncertainties and the growing demand for sovereign cloud solutions.

One of the key appointments is Andreas Schlegel, who has been appointed as the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer. Schlegel, who previously headed the Group Strategy & Transformation department at Deutsche Telekom, will be tasked with maintaining T-Systems' innovation leadership and taking over Christine Knackfuß-Nikolic's previous tasks regarding portfolio strategy and partner management.

Knackfuß-Nikolic, who became the Chief Technology Officer at T-Systems in March 2024, has also taken on the role of Chief Sovereignty Officer as of September 1, 2025. Her new role involves developing a company-wide sovereignty strategy for T-Systems to meet the new regulatory and geopolitical requirements of customers. She continues to oversee the entire security business and remains part of the management of T-Systems.

Meanwhile, Knuth Molzen has left T-Systems and joined Computacenter. In his place, Christian Loefert has been appointed as the new Marketing Chief at T-Systems.

T-Systems, one of the largest IT service providers in Germany, aims to become the leading address in Europe for secure and sovereign cloud and AI solutions, as stated by Abolhassan. The company has recently won a major contract in Denmark, marking a step towards this goal.

In addition, Ilke Anderl has been appointed as the new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at T-Systems International.

It's worth noting that Christine Knackfuß-Nikolic has been with Deutsche Telekom since March 2020, having previously worked at Accenture for over eleven years and BMW in 2005. The specifics of her background before she joined Deutsche Telekom in March 2020 are not available in the provided search results.

These changes come at an interesting time for T-Systems, as they navigate the complexities of the global IT landscape and strive to provide their customers with the most secure and sovereign solutions possible.
