Swiss Seetal region unites 12 towns to rethink local mobility

The Seetal Comprehensive Mobility Plan is taking shape, with 12 municipalities in the Swiss Seetal region working together to reshape local transport. A public survey is now gathering residents' views to help design a more sustainable and efficient system. The initiative, led by Idee Seetal, aims to cut unnecessary travel, ease congestion in village centres, and boost greener alternatives.

The project brings together towns such as Lucerne, Sursee, and Hochdorf to create a unified mobility strategy. Key goals include reducing through-traffic in town centres without pushing extra vehicles into residential areas. Instead, the plan focuses on better connections, smoother traffic flow, and attractive transport options.

Some measures are already underway. Sursee began expanding its cycling network in 2024, while Beromünster launched a pilot for improved bus services in 2025. Reinach is now building electric mobility hubs, with construction starting in early 2026. Collaboration with the Canton of Lucerne, nearby regions, and *Verkehrsverbund Luzern* ensures the strategy aligns with broader transport networks. The survey plays a central role by collecting data on how people travel, where problems lie, and which changes would have the most impact. Residents' feedback will directly influence decisions on infrastructure, services, and future projects. Further details about the plan and the survey are available on the municipal website.

The Seetal Comprehensive Mobility Plan is set to transform how people move across the region. With input from locals and early projects already in motion, the strategy aims to deliver a practical, sustainable transport system. The next steps will depend on survey results and continued cooperation between municipalities and partners.
