In the latter half of 2023, Swedish gambling operators ATG, Svenska Spel, and Kindred Group have taken significant strides to address problem gambling among their player bases.

ATG, the state-owned gambling company, reached out to 1.5% of its Swedish nfl players, recording fewer successful interactions than in the first half of the year. However, 59.9% of the contacted players opted to reduce their deposits, demonstrating a positive response to the initiative. Unfortunately, the figures reveal a decline from H1 in the percentage of contacted nfl players reducing their gambling and deposits.

Svenska Spel, the national gambling monopoly, interacted with 1.9% of its customers in H2 2023. Notably, 9.4% of all contacted players opted to self-exclude for six months or more, with 3.7% choosing a longer exclusion period. In the Tur arm of Svenska Spel, 70.5% of the contacted players scaled down their gambling, and an impressive 49.9% decreased their deposits.

The Sports & Casino segment of Svenska Spel saw 75.6% of the contacted players reduce their gambling, with 49.6% lowering their deposits. Svenska Spel, Kindred Group, and ATG have also implemented enhanced monitoring systems and increased funding for research on gambling addiction prevention in Sweden beyond their direct player interactions.

Kindred Group, a leading online gambling operator, contacted 0.5% of its customers about their spending in H2 2023. A significant 78.2% of the players Kindred contacted reduced their gambling, while 78.6% decreased their deposits. Moreover, 2.2% of the customers Kindred interacted with opted to exclude themselves from gambling, with 1.6% choosing an exclusion period of over six months.

In response to these efforts, Kindred published an update to its Journey towards Zero initiative, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safer gambling environment.

These statistics underscore the ongoing commitment of Sweden's leading gambling operators to promoting responsible gaming and supporting those who may be struggling with problem gambling. As the industry continues to evolve, it is hoped that these initiatives will lead to a healthier and safer gaming environment for all.
