Suspect Vinted transaction alerts buyer to potential scam, detailing a loss of £83 with advice on recovering funds

In a series of events, users on Reddit and associate editor Sarah Barns have expressed their dissatisfaction with the online second-hand clothing platform, Vinted.

Sarah Barns, an associate editor, has shared her dislike for Vinted, citing personal experiences with receiving dirty and misshapen children's clothes, as well as high-street items like a dress from Arket and a skirt from Cos not fitting properly and having faded colors. She also felt that postage and buyer protection on Vinted did not offer a great deal.

A user on Reddit shared a similar experience, purchasing collector items worth £83 from Vinted but receiving takeaway chopsticks instead. Another user experienced a similar issue two weeks prior. Both users initially thought they were being scammed and went to the post office to pick up the packages.

One Reddit user suggested that the seller might have sent the wrong item, while another speculated the possibility of a wrong label on the wrong package. The users on Reddit have offered advice, such as filming the unboxing of Vinted deliveries to cover one's back in case of issues, and refusing a package that doesn't match the purchased item to register as not collected and receive a refund when it's returned to the seller.

In a bid to resolve the issue, the users on Reddit have filed reports with Vinted, but some are yet to hear back about a refund. Sarah, who also attempted to sell items on Vinted, gave up after her £110 Veja trainers got lost in the post. She finds it frustrating that Vinted encourages spending, especially given these circumstances.

The lack of information about specific incidents, such as the user who spent £83 on collector's items on Vinted but received takeaway chopsticks instead, raises concerns about the platform's accountability and reliability. These incidents have left users feeling uneasy, particularly about the reselling of fast-fashion items on Vinted.

As more users share their experiences, it remains to be seen how Vinted will address these issues and regain the trust of its users.
