Berlin Police Arrest Two Suspects in S-Bahn Theft Case
In a recent development, the Berlin Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a theft that took place on S-Bahn train 7. The incident occurred at Ahrensfelde station around 11:30 PM.
The two men, a 19-year-old Tunisian national and a 24-year-old Serbian national, were initially stopped by Deutsche Bahn AG employees. During the course of the investigation, the officers initiated proceedings against the duo for suspicion of theft and violation of the Residence Act, as it was discovered that they were staying in the country illegally.
During the search of the 19-year-old, the officers found two mobile phones. One of these phones was traced back to the 17-year-old victim, who was also taken into police custody, as he had an arrest warrant against him for theft. The other phone's owner is yet to be identified. Additionally, a cable cutter was found on the 19-year-old suspect.
The 19-year-old was held until the arrival of Federal Police officers, while the second man was temporarily arrested in the station area. However, the stolen items have not been reported as recovered.
After completing police procedures, the Ukrainian national was handed over to the central police custody of the Berlin Police. The 19-year-old and 24-year-old suspects were later released on bail.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information related to the stolen items or any other details about the incident to come forward and contact the authorities.
