Successful introduction of 'senior cycling' program announced in Borken county, with future events to be unveiled
Senior Cycling Initiative to Enhance Road Safety in Borken District
The Circular Police Department in Borken has announced plans for a senior cycling initiative aimed at enhancing road safety for older cyclists in the district, which has the highest pedelec ownership rate nationwide.
The event, which is set to combine the joy of cycling with practical tips for accident prevention, will be held regularly in the future, following the success of the inaugural event in the town of Gronau. The organisers, the Traffic Division of the Circular Police Department Borken, consider the event a success and are looking forward to welcoming more senior cyclists in the future.
The senior cycling initiative is designed to focus on safety and prevention, with participants cycling through typical danger zones together to help knowledge remain more firmly anchored in everyday life. The route of the event is based on current accident hotspots in the district.
During the event, police officers provide tips on behaviour at intersections, roundabouts, bike lane usage, and the importance of helmets, lights, and safe equipment. The number of participants in this concept is limited to a maximum of twelve.
Interested seniors are invited to note the upcoming dates in their calendars, as the dates for the year 2025 will be announced shortly, with the dates for the year 2026 to be published at the beginning of the next year.
Contact for media representatives can be made through the Circular Police Department Borken, and the contact information can be found on their official website (borken.polizei.nrw). The contact personnel include Sandra Biedermann (sb), Leonie Dreier (ld), Markus Huls (mh), Peter Lefering (pl), Thorsten Ohm (to), Muzeyyen Sander (ms), and Tina Schellberg (ts).
The senior cycling initiative in Borken is part of a broader effort to improve road safety for all cyclists, particularly older ones, and to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among seniors.
