Stutenpreis Award in Iffezheim won unexpectedly by Egina, according to T. von Zastrow.
Egina Defies Odds to Win T. von Zastrow-Stuten-Preis at Iffezheim
In an unexpected turn of events, the 107:10 outsider Egina emerged victorious in the T. von Zastrow-Stuten-Preis race during the Grand Week at the Iffezheim horse racing track. The race, which had seven opponents, including the race favourite Santagada, attracted a crowd of 11,900 spectators.
Trained by Peter Schiergen for Gestüt Park Wiedingen, owned by Helmut von Finck, Egina had a total of four wins in her twelve starts this year. Leon Wolff was the jockey who guided Egina to victory in the 2,400-meter race.
Peter Schiergen expressed his satisfaction with Egina's performance, stating that she had a top race and finished super. However, he also noted that Santagada, another horse trained by him, faced some bad luck during the race. The specifics of Santagada's performance, including who rode him in the race, were not disclosed.
North Realiance, ridden by Sean Byrne, was another competitor in the race. In the end, Egina managed to finish ahead of Nyra, ridden by Thore Hammer-Hansen.
Santagada, who was the race favourite, finished fourth in the T. von Zastrow-Stuten-Preis race. Despite the outcome, Peter Schiergen remains optimistic about Santagada's potential, looking forward to future races with both Egina and Santagada.
