Bayern Munich Claim Super Cup Victory Over Wolfsburg

In a thrilling Super Cup match, Bayern Munich emerged victorious against VfL Wolfsburg with a final score of 4:2 (2:0). The return of Lena Oberdorf, a national team player, marked a significant moment in the game after her 410-day absence due to a cruciate ligament injury.

The first half of the match saw Bayern Munich dominate, with Magdalena Eriksson, Jovana Damnjanovic, Lea Schüller, and Georgia Stanway scoring for the Bavarian side. Schüller's fantastic volley from outside the box was a highlight of the first half, as she brought Bayern back into the game.

However, Wolfsburg's Janou Levels, a new addition from Leverkusen, made a few uncertain appearances in goal, which may have contributed to Bayern's early lead. Sarah Zadrazil and Stanway's failure to clear the ball in the box led to Wolfsburg's first goal in the second half, with Endemann capitalizing on Bayern's mistake.

The second half of the match saw new coach José Barcala introduce Oberdorf, Bühl, and Harder into the game. Oberdorf, who returned to an official match for Bayern Munich after 410 days, made a comeback in the Supercup against Wolfsburg. Despite committing a foul that led to a penalty for VfL Wolfsburg, Oberdorf's presence seemed to invigorate Bayern, as they continued to press for more goals.

Stina Johannes, the new Wolfsburg goalkeeper, also had an uncertain performance, which may have contributed to Bayern's success. Justine Kielland was shown a yellow-red card during the match, further disrupting Wolfsburg's defence.

Stanway sealed the victory with a confident penalty kick, ensuring Bayern Munich's Super Cup triumph. Vivien Endemann and Janina Minge scored for VfL Wolfsburg, but it was not enough to prevent the defeat. Giulia Gwinn, who was injured at the Euros, was not yet ready for the Super Cup, which may have affected Wolfsburg's performance.

After the match, Lena Oberdorf described her comeback as "extremely beautiful," despite the occasional uncertainty in her performance. The Super Cup match was a promising start for both teams as they gear up for the upcoming season.
