Strengthening bonds with Trump: Modi's plan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on an official visit to France and the United States, with the first leg of his journey scheduled from February 10 to 12, 2023. The second leg of Prime Minister Modi's official visit will take him to the United States, where he will meet with President Donald Trump. This will be the first meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump following his inauguration in January. Prime Minister Modi has a warm recollection of working together with President Trump in his first term.
During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Modi will discuss a range of issues with President Trump, including developing a plan to further elevate and deepen the partnership between India and the US, particularly in the areas of technology, trade, defence, energy, and supply chain resilience.
Prime Minister Modi will also visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project in Marseille. India is a member of the consortium of partner countries for the ITER project, which aims to develop and demonstrate the practicality of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy.
In addition to his meetings with President Trump, Prime Minister Modi will also visit the United States for talks with President Trump on a later date. The President of the United States with whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to cooperate during the second part of his official visit in February 2023 is Joe Biden. However, from January 20, 2025, Donald Trump assumed the presidency for a second term, becoming the 47th President of the United States.
Overall, Prime Minister Modi's official visit to France and the United States aims to work together for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries and shape a better future for the world.
