Street Schlossstraße resumes vehicle traffic movement

The city of Bergisch Gladbach is on track with the renovation of Schlossstraße, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. On Monday, September 1, 2025, a rest section of the Schlossstraße in Bensberg will reopen for car traffic, despite ongoing construction work in some areas.

With the reopening, the Schlossstraße will become a one-way street from the Nikolausstraße. Designated parking spaces on the right side of the Schlossstraße, starting from the Nikolausstraße entrance, will be available from the opening. Parking on the Schlossstraße will be strictly enforced, with violations resulting in fines.

The return of the Schlossstraße for traffic via the Gartenstraße will also mean the reopening of the Gartenstraße, allowing the one in the Gartenstraße to be usable again. Market vendors will be back at their usual spots in front of the Schloss steps and the Schlossgalerie, bringing a sense of familiarity and normalcy back to the Schlossstraße.

The Bensberg weekly market will also return to its old location on September 4. Traffic will be directed from the Gartenstraße onto the Steinstraße using a traffic signal. However, the Fontänenfeld, which has been in operation since mid-June in front of the Schlossgalerie, will be closed during market hours.

The First Deputy Mayor of the city, Ragnar Migenda, expressed pleasure about providing early relief for commerce, business, and city society with the reopening of the Schlossstraße. The city thanks all those responsible who have worked together to make the early opening of the newly designed shopping street possible during ongoing construction.
