Street Reopens to Traffic on September 1st - Weekly Market Resumes Its Regular Location

The city of Bergisch Gladbach is set to witness a significant change as Schlossstraße, a popular shopping street in Bensberg, will reopen for traffic prematurely on Monday, September 1, 2025, despite ongoing construction.

From the Nikolausstraße entrance, parking opportunities will be exclusively on the right side of the road. These spaces will be clearly marked with signs and cobblestones to ensure ease of identification. It is important to note that the availability of these designated parking spaces is subject to construction site conditions.

The diversion of traffic from Gartenstraße will be controlled, with vehicles being directed to turn right onto Steinstraße. A traffic signal will manage this transition to maintain safety and order. The private underground garage in Schlossstraße will remain accessible during this time.

The fountain area in front of the Schlossgalerie will be temporarily turned off during market hours, starting from September 4, to accommodate the return of the Bensberg weekly market to its original location in front of the castle steps and the Schlossgalerie.

The First Deputy Mayor of the city, Ragnar Migenda, expressed his pleasure with the early opening of Schlossstraße, stating that it will provide relief to trade, business, and the city society.

The one-way traffic rule will apply on Schlossstraße from Nikolausstraße, allowing vehicles to use the newly designed shopping street from Nikolausstraße to the intersection at Gartenstraße.
