Street access at Spenglerstrasse is now blocked
In a significant move towards sustainable development, the city of Peine is set to redevelop Spenglerstraße, with the street no longer available for motorized traffic, cyclists, or pedestrians from July 28, 2025.
The decision to close Spenglerstraße marks the end of its function as a public thoroughfare. This change is a result of the acquisition of the street areas by Rausch Holding Peine GmbH & Co. KG, a company aiming to optimize operational processes and functions of the adjacent commercial properties.
The acquisition was facilitated by a resolution by the Council of the City of Peine and a withdrawal procedure. The purpose of the acquisition is to improve the efficiency of the business premises, as well as to sustainably develop the site.
From July 28, 2025, Spenglerstraße will no longer accommodate any form of traffic, including motorized, pedestrian, or cyclist. The construction of barrier devices is a necessary step in the closure of Spenglerstraße to the public, and construction will begin on the same day.
The altered state of Spenglerstraße, including its expansion and the abolishment of its function as a street, will take effect from July 28, 2025. The company's actions are part of the overall plan to alter the state of Spenglerstraße, with the aim of creating a more efficient and sustainable urban environment.
Further information regarding this development can be found in document 426/2021 in the Council Information System. The community is encouraged to stay informed about the changes and the progress of the project.
This decision reflects the city's commitment to sustainable development and improving the efficiency of its commercial areas. As the construction progresses, the city of Peine looks forward to a more efficient and sustainable future for Spenglerstraße and its surrounding areas.
