The beloved musical "Hamilton," which was initially planned for a theatrical release in October 2021, made an unexpected debut on Disney+ during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Now, the film is making its way back to the big screen.

Filmed at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theater in June 2016, the movie will be released in theaters across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico starting from September 5. The theatrical release will come with a prologue titled "Reuniting the Revolution."

In New York City, tickets are available through September 11. For those outside these regions, the film will be released in Australia and New Zealand on November 13, and in the U.K. and Ireland on September 26. However, specific details about the theaters where the movie is being shown are not provided.

Thomas Kail, who directed and produced the Broadway production, stated that the intention when filming Hamilton was to capture the feeling of being in the Richard Rodgers Theatre during the first year on Broadway. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the composer and star of Hamilton, opted to release the movie on Disney+ during the pandemic.

Interestingly, the film is still streaming on Disney+, but it is not available to buy or rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime. For those who wish to watch it in theaters, Fandango can be used to find a showing near you.

It's worth noting that Disney+ offers subscription options, with the basic plan costing $9.99/month and an ad-free plan costing $15.99/month or $159.99/year. Additionally, Disney+ bundles with Hulu, Max, and ESPN are available, offering savings of up to 40% every month.

As the Hamilton movie hits theaters this weekend, audiences have the opportunity to experience the groundbreaking musical on the big screen once more. For those who missed it during its initial run or those who want to revisit the performance, this is an exciting development.
