Streaming service Pathé opts for Synamedia's watermarking technology to safeguard high-end streaming content

Pathé, the renowned French film production and distribution company, has announced its decision to implement ContentArmor, a server-side watermarking solution provided by Synamedia, to safeguard its vast library of movies, including 4K UHD content, across all devices.

This move is aimed at protecting Pathé's assets while adhering to content owner agreements. The session-based watermarking solution offered by ContentArmor allows Pathé to identify individual accounts of unauthorized users and malicious actors, enabling disruptive countermeasures to be taken.

ContentArmor's server-side solution is designed for robust protection, maintaining the highest security standards. This solution ensures that Pathé's premium content remains secure, even as it is streamed to various devices.

Ivar van der Burg, head of platform and video at Pathé, praised the solution, stating that ContentArmor maintains high video quality, keeps encoding costs low, and effectively secures content. He also noted that the watermarks employed by ContentArmor are imperceptible.

The implementation of ContentArmor follows Synamedia's successful use of the system to secure premium content for D2C TVOD streaming services. ContentArmor is highly regarded by Hollywood studios, according to Synamedia, due to its integration flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Unlike other solutions, ContentArmor encodes content only once, reducing complexity and cost for securing premium 4K UHD content. This efficiency is a significant advantage for Pathé, as it seeks to deliver high-quality content to its audience without compromising on security.
