Guests who had their vehicles valeted at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee before last week's flood can now retrieve their cars starting Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 9 am to 6 pm CDT. The cars are being released from a corner lot on the southwest side of the casino building along W. Potawatomi Circle.
The process for vehicle retrieval includes guests providing their identification, vehicle registration, and valet ticket to security at the gate. A security escort will then accompany them to their vehicles, which were relocated to the outdoor lot due to the extensive damage and flooding in the underground garage.
The vehicles remain in Potawatomi's lot until insurance adjusters can assess the damage caused by the flooding, which resulted in significant water damage. Initially, guests had to fill out forms after discovering the flood damage and wait for contact from the casino staff. However, communication has been reported as minimal and frustrating by many affected customers.
The Potawatomi Casino Hotel remained open during the storm, despite the flooding in its underground valet parking garage. The casino, which houses around 3,000 slot machines, 60 live dealer table games, bingo and poker rooms, and a sportsbook, is one of more than two dozen tribal casinos in Wisconsin.
In its fiscal year 2024 revenue report, tribal casinos in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, and Indiana generated gross gaming revenue of $5.1 billion. The flooded vehicles have been safely removed and placed in the corner lot.
Tow trucks must have a work order or invoice for a specific vehicle, while insurance adjusters must provide their business card plus the VIN or work order showing the customer's VIN. Federally recognized tribes in Wisconsin hold a monopoly on casino gambling, as commercial casinos are not allowed.
The flooding was a result of heavy rainfall that fell on Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10. The rainfall was described as a "once in a thousand years" weather event. Guests who valeted their vehicles before the flooding can retrieve them today from the corner lot.
