In an incident that took place on September 6th, a traffic accident occurred in the area of Hauptstraße in Witten. The accident was caused by a vehicle that fled from the police after being checked in Bochum-Langendreer.
The vehicle involved in the accident was a car that had been stolen in Bochum city center between September 4th and 5th. The license plates of the stolen vehicle were swapped with stolen ones from Bochum-Langendreer.
Upon investigation, it was found that the driver could not provide a valid driver's license, and an alcohol test showed a reading of 0.42 percent. The driver, a 16-year-old from Bochum, remained uninjured, but two of his passengers (16 and 20, also from Bochum) sustained minor injuries.
Two female passengers (14 and 18, from Dortmund) were severely injured and had to be taken to the hospital. The seized vehicle was no longer roadworthy, and the estimated property damage from the accident is over 20,000 euros.
The police attempted to stop the car in the Unterstraße area of Bochum around 3:30 AM. However, the driver ignored the stop signals and fled, driving at excessive speeds and ignoring red lights during his escape.
