Stolen Credit Card Halted: Kürten - Authorities Prevented Credit Card from Reaching Fraudsters

In the quiet town of Kürten, located within the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, an attempted credit card fraud incident took place on September 2nd, as reported by the Polizei Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis via news aktuell.

Unknown perpetrators posing as employees of a local bank branch, Sparkasse, attempted to obtain an elderly woman's credit card under false pretenses. The fraudsters claimed they needed to freeze her account to prevent a withdrawal of several thousand euros. However, the woman's son recognised the fraud attempt and prevented the card handover.

The man at the door, approximately 30 years old, stood at around 1.70 m tall, had a normal build, short brown hair, a full beard, and was wearing light clothing. The caller, who confirmed the statements, also spoke German without an accent.

The incident occurred at 15:00 in Leo-Fahlenbock-Straße, Kürten-Dürscheid. Fortunately, no credit card was handed over to the fraudsters due to the timely intervention of the son.

The police have filed a criminal complaint regarding this incident and are seeking more information about the unknown perpetrators.
