In an unusual incident at Hamburg Central Station on September 1, 2025, a man aged 43 was arrested for causing public nuisance and theft.

The incident occurred at around 21:40 hours in the Wandelhalle, a main section of the station. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was reported to have undressed in front of security personnel and passengers, causing shock and dismay.

According to reports, the man was initially noticed by security personnel due to his possession of an unsellable 12-pack of non-alcoholic drinks. It was later discovered that he had stolen these drinks from a bakery shop within the station.

Upon arrival, federal police officers were called to the scene, which was located on the first floor of the station. The officers initially searched the clothing left on the ground for dangerous objects. The suspect, who complied with the police officers' request to get dressed immediately, was later arrested.

No breath alcohol was detected at the scene. However, the suspect refused to make any statements about the allegations.

After the completion of the federal police measures, the man was released from the scene with a ban on entering the central station. Criminal proceedings (suspicion of causing public nuisance, theft) have been initiated against the 43-year-old.

Further investigations will be conducted by the investigative service of the Federal Police Inspectorate Hamburg. For further inquiries, the press spokesperson for the Police Commissioner Rüdiger Carstens can be contacted via mobile number 0172/4052 741, email [email protected], or website www.bundespolizei.de.
