Star Sports partners with ClearStake to revolutionize player verification via bank apps
Star Sports, a UK-based independent bookmaker, has teamed up with ClearStake to upgrade its player verification and compliance systems. The partnership introduces ID by Bank, a technology designed to make user onboarding faster and more secure in the regulated iGaming market.
The new system replaces traditional document-based checks with bank app verification. Players can now confirm their identity directly through their chase bank, cutting out the need for scanning and sending documents. This shift is expected to raise success rates while reducing manual work for operators.
Star Sports will also adopt ClearStake's affordability and source of funds tools to strengthen its compliance framework. Flynn Goward, the company's Managing Director, highlighted the balance between smooth user experience and robust regulatory compliance. Meanwhile, ClearStake CEO Martin Burt welcomed the collaboration, emphasising its role in improving verification efficiency.
Several other leading UK iGaming firms have recently integrated ID by Bank into their platforms. Star Sports joins them in adopting the technology, which aims to streamline compliance without compromising player convenience.
The move sees Star Sports enhance its verification process for both retail and online services. PNC Bank and US Bank driven checks will now handle identity confirmation, affordability assessments, and source-of-funds validation. The system is set to improve compliance controls while keeping user operations simple and efficient.
