Star footballer Mbappe advocates for increased rest periods for athletes in France
Kylian Mbappe Speaks Out on Demanding Football Schedule
Football superstar Kylian Mbappe, currently playing for Real Madrid and France, has expressed concerns about the current demands placed on players due to the busy schedule.
Mbappe, who scored an impressive 44 goals for Real Madrid during the 2021-2022 season, played a total of 59 matches across all competitions. This heavy workload was evident as he made six appearances for France during the same period, including their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The French team's schedule is packed, with matches against Ukraine, Iceland, and Azerbaijan scheduled for the qualifying campaign. France's first match in this campaign is against Ukraine on Friday, and they will also face Iceland in Paris on September 27, 2022.
The winner of Group D, which includes these teams, will qualify directly for the World Cup. With Mbappe's commitment to both Real Madrid and France, he may not get any significant time off until mid-July 2023 if France qualifies for the tournament.
The Club World Cup, which Real Madrid participated in during the summer of 2022, further increased the demands on players. Mbappe's first match with Real Madrid was in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, 2021, and his last match was in the Club World Cup semi-final on July 9, 2022.
Some teams have already started the 2025/26 season while Real Madrid was still in the 2024/25 season, adding to the pressure on players. Mbappe believes that the current schedule is demanding and needs to be addressed to improve the quality of games.
Despite earlier thoughts to the contrary, Mbappe no longer believes that footballers play too much. He made this statement in reference to the demands of the current football schedule.
Mbappe, a football player for Real Madrid, has proven his resilience and dedication to the sport, continually pushing himself to perform at the highest level despite the demanding schedule.
