Staging the Uprising of Short Folks
Mini electric cars are experiencing a resurgence on the streets of Germany, with several new models hitting the market in recent months. One of the latest additions is the Hyundai Inster, a compact mini electric SUV that offers a range of practical features and an affordable price tag.
The Inster, priced at around €24,000, boasts two 10.25-inch displays, adjustable rear seats, and the option to fold all seats into a two-meter-long bed. It also comes with a vehicle-to-load function, allowing you to charge E-bikes or grills with the traction battery's power. With a length of 3.82 meters, the Inster presents itself as a mini SUV.
Another contender in the mini electric car market is the Fiat 500e, which was introduced in Germany in 2020. The base version of the 500e is priced around €27,000. It features a 70 kW motor that allows for quick acceleration, and its 24 kWh battery provides up to 200 kilometers of range. The trunk of the 500e ranges from 185 to 550 liters.

The BYD Dolphin Surf is another mini electric car worth considering. It comes with an electric drive with 65 kW and a 30 kWh battery, providing a range of 220 kilometers. A larger battery with 43 kWh and a more powerful drive with 115 kW/156 PS is also available for the Dolphin Surf. The base version of the Dolphin Surf comes with vegan leather seats, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, cruise control, air conditioning, rearview camera, automatic high beam, and a vehicle-to-load function.
New entrants in the mini electric car market include the Leapmotor T03, a new mini electric car that can be leased for as little as €100 per month. The T03 is 3.62 meters long, has a 70 kW/95 PS engine, and weighs 1.2 tons. It comes with standard luxury features such as a panoramic glass roof, automatic climate control, ten assistance systems, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, and alloy wheels. The T03 starts at €18,900 and offers a range of around 265 kilometers, or almost 400 in city driving.
As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, it's clear that mini electric cars are here to stay. With their practical ranges, modern technology, and affordable entry prices, mini electric cars are an attractive option for many consumers.
