Hammons Field Upgrades Audio System with Electro-Voice Loudspeakers
Hammons Field, home of the Springfield Cardinals, has undergone an impressive audio upgrade, thanks to Electro-Voice and audio, video, and lighting integrator Paragon 360. The stadium, which opened in 2004, needed a refresh to improve the fan experience and deliver better sound quality.
Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) loudspeakers were chosen for the upgrade, with the MKD series providing better coverage, higher output, and improved pattern control. The MKC series, a perfect complement to the MKD main speakers, was used as fill speakers and deployed throughout the upper decks, club spaces, outdoor suite seating, Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, common area, and stadium entrances.
Specifically, 18 MKC80 speakers were used for outdoor suite seating, seven for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, six MKC120 speakers for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost common area, and seven were used across the stadium entrances. A total of 14 EAW MKD1296 3-way full-range loudspeakers were installed for the main seating areas at Hammons Field.
All speakers were hung using the appropriate EAW U-Bracket. The compact size and overall sound quality of the MKC series make them a tremendous value, according to Paragon 360. The new audio system has significantly improved the fan experience, as stated by Nelms.
The audio overhaul was completed during the offseason, with a narrow installation window before the first pitch of 2025. The upgrade aimed to preserve the stadium's existing speaker locations while delivering improved clarity, output, and coverage.
Hammons Field, a 6,750-seat minor league baseball stadium, also offers additional 2,500 general admission spots. It serves as the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and is used by Missouri State University Bears for games. The stadium features facilities such as the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost, the SpringNet Champions Club, a spacious main concourse, private suites, and new third-level executive suites.
EAW pulled off an "absolute miracle" to get the speakers to Hammons Field in time for opening day, ensuring that fans could enjoy the improved sound quality from the very first game. The upgrade by Electro-Voice and Paragon 360 has transformed the audio experience at Hammons Field, making it a must-visit destination for baseball fans.
