St. Luke’s Hospital Closes After Decades of Community Service

St. Luke’s Hospital in Ohligs has closed its doors after decades of service to the community. A farewell ceremony, led by Reverend Astrid Klumb, marked the end of an era for staff, patients, and local residents who had relied on the hospital for generations. The final service took place on November 23, a week before the official shutdown. More people attended than expected—nurses, doctors, residents, and fellow clergy all gathered to reflect on the hospital’s legacy. For many, the event provided a chance to process their emotions, which ranged from grief and anger to cautious hope. St. Luke’s Hospital has now officially closed, ending its long-standing role in Ohligs. Staff are adjusting to new challenges, and Reverend Klumb will continue her work at a different hospital. The building’s departure leaves a gap in the community, where its presence was once a constant for so many.
