Sports wagering is set to become legal in Missouri within the next 3 months
Sports betting enthusiasts in Missouri are in for an exciting time as the long-awaited legalisation of sports wagering is about to become a reality. The Missouri Gaming Commission, led by Chair Jan Zimmerman, is overseeing the preparations for the launch, with MissouriNet handling the logistics.
According to reports, sports wagering will be allowed on sporting events, and both mobile devices and physical casinos will cater to bettors. Starting December 1st, sports betting will be allowed at Missouri's casinos, including Argosy Riverside Casino, Hollywood Casino St. Louis, River City Casino, and many others.
Some of the notable companies that have applied for sports betting licenses and are expected to be present in casinos include BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, Circa Sports, bet365, Caesars, ESPN BET, Fanatics, Underdog, and theScore. Among these, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Circa Sports are vying for two untethered mobile sports betting licenses, allowing operation without partnering with a local casino.
While the specific regulations or rules for sports betting in Missouri remain unspecified, it is known that these operators aim to launch in Missouri by December 1, 2025. Notably, FanDuel, which lost out on the state's two untethered licenses, is expected to team up with a "brick and mortar" location. As for DraftKings, they will be making sports wagering on mobile devices available in Missouri. Similarly, Circa Sports will also offer mobile sports betting.
The timeline for the full implementation of sports betting beyond being less than three months away has not been specified. However, Chair Zimmerman has stated that preparations are going well, and Missourians will soon be able to legally place bets on sporting events without leaving the state. This development is set to revolutionise the sports landscape in Missouri, offering a new level of engagement and excitement for fans.
