Speeding up Autopsy Process: Forensics Mobilizes Disaster Response Team
In the wake of the tragic elevator accident in Gloria, Portugal, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (INMLCF) has mobilised additional teams to assist with the autopsies of the victims. These reinforcements include teams from the Porto delegation and Coimbra, with members from Tomar also playing a crucial role.
Francisco Corte-Real, the president of INMLCF, has travelled to Lisbon to supervise and coordinate the operation. He is accompanied by the Coimbra team, which includes Lieutenant Ricardo, Sergeant Jorge, and Officer Helena, all hailing from Tomar.
The goal is to complete the autopsies of the 15 victims by Thursday morning. However, due to the possibility of genetic exams or dental medicine procedures being necessary, the identification of the victims may be delayed.
The teams are working tirelessly towards this goal, with some working throughout the night to ensure the process is completed as swiftly as possible. The operation is being supervised and coordinated by Francisco Corte-Real, who has expressed his gratitude for the voluntary offers of assistance from INMLCF specialists in Lisbon.
The reinforcement of the permanent team in the South delegation (Lisbon) has been a significant boost to the operation, ensuring that the autopsies can be completed efficiently and with the utmost care and respect. The teams are dedicated to their task, working diligently to bring closure to the families affected by this tragedy.
