Speeding motorcyclists exceeding legal limits by 100 km/h on public roads (Politics - Traffic Management)
The Aachen Police, in collaboration with the Traffic Directorate, carried out traffic checks in the cities of Aachen and Simmerath on August 27, 2025. The aim was to ensure road safety and maintain order, with officers focusing on problematic areas reported by citizens.
In Simmerath, police conducted speed checks on 299 vehicles along the L128, resulting in a total of 19 fines for speeding violations. Thirteen vehicles, including 13 motorcycles, were fined for exceeding the speed limit by more than 15 km/h. One motorcyclist from Simmerath was found to have exceeded the speed limit by an astonishing 108 km/h, facing a potential driving ban and a fine. Another motorcycle from Munich was measured at 146 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, also facing a fine. Six other vehicles were fined for speeding by up to 15 km/h.
In Aachen, traffic checks were conducted at various locations, including Bismarckstraße, Karlsgraben, Ursulinerstraße, Bastei intersection, and Horbacher Bridge. A total of 46 verbal warnings and 19 fines were issued in Aachen. The Traffic Accident Prevention and Victim Protection (VUPO) unit of Aachen Police conducted 16 preventive talks in the city.
