Aachen and Simmerath See High-Speed Traffic Offenses During Police Checks

On August 27, 2025, the Aachen Police conducted traffic checks in the city of Aachen and Simmerath. During these checks, a total of 270 vehicles were inspected, with nearly 2300 speeds being measured.

In Simmerath, police focused on the L128 road, where two motorcycles were found to be exceeding the speed limit significantly. One motorcycle from Munich was clocked at 146 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, while another motorcycle from Simmerath was caught going 108 km/h over the speed limit. As a result, these motorcycles were fined.

Six other vehicles were also fined for speeding by up to 15 km/h in Simmerath. In contrast, in Aachen, a total of 46 verbal warnings and 19 fines were issued.

The Traffic Directorate of the Aachen Police spoke about motorcyclists with extraordinarily high speeds during these traffic controls. However, there is no available information about the residence of these riders. The Aachen Police's Traffic Accident Prevention and Victim Protection (VUPO) unit conducted 16 preventive talks.

Police also visited the registered address of the driver of the motorcycle that exceeded the speed limit by 108 km/h and spoke to him, taking his details and questioning him about the alleged speeding. No new preventive talks or visits to registered addresses were mentioned.

Traffic monitoring locations in Aachen included Bismarckstraße, Karlsgraben, Ursulinerstraße, Bastei intersection, and Horbacher Bridge. No new speeding incidents beyond those already mentioned were reported.
