Sparkasse Regensburg Celebrates 200 Years of Giving Back

Sparkasse Regensburg marked its 200-year anniversary with a series of donations and sponsorships that underscored its commitment to the common good. The bank, which prides itself on giving back to its customers, announced its support for a range of initiatives, from promoting sustainability and mass sports to supporting charities and community projects.

Last year, the total volume of donations and sponsorships for socially relevant projects amounted to around 1.2 million euros, and a similar scale is expected in 2025. The continuous work of representatives of civil society engagement is priceless, and Sparkasse Regensburg is eager to recognise and support their efforts.

One of the lighthouse projects presented during the anniversary celebrations was the Regensburg Sustainability Week (Nachhaltigkeitswoche), a city-wide event focused on promoting sustainability and aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. The bank's support for the event involved multiple partners such as the City of Regensburg, University of Regensburg, and other local organisations.

Sparkasse Regensburg also supported the Stenographic Association Regensburg 1864, whose outstanding members can now participate in Bavarian and German championships. The bank's donation will help the association continue its work to promote the art of shorthand and typing.

Another initiative that received financial recognition was the ambitious vkm project "THEO - Center for Animal-Assisted Therapy in Eastern Bavaria." Sparkasse Regensburg's support will help the centre provide therapy for people with various physical and mental health issues.

The bank also supported BPW Business and Professional Women Germany, specifically an event promoting equal pay between women and men. Sparkasse Regensburg is committed to supporting gender equality and promoting opportunities for women in the workplace.

In addition to these initiatives, Sparkasse Regensburg supported Freie TUS 1911, whose children and youth work is always integrative and inclusive. The bank also supported JumpaKids, a model project for obesity counseling by the Catholic Youth Welfare.

The bank's support for the community doesn't stop there. Sparkasse Regensburg has also supported Tennis Club Rot-Blau Regensburg, seen as a representative of sustainable promotion of mass sports. The bank has also supported the Regensburg association for physically and multiply disabled people, and the new Caritas Marienheim in Ostengasse, which offers a protective roof for women in Regensburg.

The Mayor highlighted the bank's 200-year history, praising its long-standing commitment to promoting the common good. The host thanked all those present and the initiatives they represent, referring to the respective projects supported by Sparkasse donations.

Sparkasse Regensburg's support for these initiatives demonstrates its strong commitment to promoting the common good, and its continued dedication to giving back to the community. The bank's work is priceless, and its efforts are greatly appreciated by the organisations and individuals it supports.
