Spain’s El Niño lottery returns with a €1.1 billion prize pool today
Spain’s El Niño Extraordinary Draw returns today with a record-breaking prize pool of €1.1 billion. The event, set for Tuesday, January 6, will distribute winnings using the Multi-Drum System, with €770 million allocated to prizes and the remaining 30% funding future lottery operations. Tickets go on sale as excitement builds across the country, with a full ticket priced at €200 and a tenth-share at €20. The first prize offers €2 million per series, meaning a €200,000 payout for each tenth-share winner. In total, 55 series of 100,000 tickets each are available. Spending habits vary by region, with Asturias leading at €31.37 per person and Ceuta at the bottom with €3.81. The Valencian Community recorded the highest total sales at €139.1 million. Nationwide, average spending has risen by €0.57 compared to last year, reaching €18.77 per person. The 2026 El Niño draw promises substantial rewards for participants, with life-changing sums up for grabs. The event remains one of Spain’s most anticipated annual lotteries.
