South Hamburg to welcome the establishment of a new manufacturing plant by Traceless

Hamburg-based bioeconomy startup, Traceless, is making waves in the industry with its innovative approach to addressing plastic pollution. Founded in the city, Traceless has taken its first steps from science and is now set to revolutionise the packaging industry.

The startup has recently secured funding in the millions, most notably from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, and has chosen Hamburg-Harburg's Großmoorbogen as its first production site. Traceless aims to produce several thousand tons of plastic alternative annually by 2025, a significant step towards a greener future.

Traceless's industrialised technology produces a natural plastic alternative from agricultural waste, making it a sustainable and resource-efficient solution. This eco-friendly approach has earned the startup recognition, as it was awarded second place in the Future Hamburg Awards in 2021 for its innovative and sustainable concept.

The new production facility, expected to be operational by 2025, is not just a step forward for Traceless but also for the economic location in Hamburg-Harburg. The facility is anticipated to strengthen the region's position in the bio-based industry.

Traceless has already garnered the support of major players in the industry. The Otto Group, a renowned German retail company, has chosen Traceless as its first pilot customer in 2021, committing to making its packaging more environmentally friendly.

Traceless's project promotes a bio-based industry not just in Hamburg but in Germany as a whole. Another Hamburg-based startup, Wildplastic, is also involved in this project, further solidifying the city's position as a hub for sustainable innovation.

Initial supply contracts with European companies ensure regular market entry for Traceless's plastic alternative. The startup's commitment to sustainable business practices and resource-efficient production is evident in its choice of resource-efficient construction for the traditional Backhaus Wedemann building.

Despite extensive search results, information about the first customer who chose Traceless's environmentally friendly packaging solution remains elusive. However, with the Otto Group on board, it's clear that Traceless is making strides in its mission to set a fresh impetus for a green, bio-based industry in Hamburg.
