South Beach Casino Secuity Chief Firing Tied to Harassment Complaints, Not Drugs
Devin Morin, the former head of security at South Beach Casino, has been dismissed following multiple allegations of sexual harassment. The casino maintains that his termination was based on credible misconduct claims, not his whistleblowing about drug activity on the premises.
Morin, however, disputes the reasons for his firing and has taken legal action in response.
The first accusation against Morin dates back to May 2018, when an employee reported unwanted sexual advances. No further action was taken at the time. Years later, in January 2025, another colleague filed a complaint, leading to a formal written reprimand.
In July 2025, a third employee came forward with similar allegations. Security footage reviewed during the investigation partially supported the claims. The casino’s dismissal notice cited 'unwelcome gestures and contact' with staff, which Morin denied.
South Beach Casino stated that Morin was fired 'with cause' under its zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment. The casino’s legal defence called his subsequent lawsuit 'frivolous and vexatious', rejecting any suggestion of retaliation.
Morin, however, claims his termination was punishment for raising concerns about drugs being brought into the casino and sold to employees. He also alleged that he faced threats of violence from an individual connected to CEO Timothy Spence after voicing his suspicions.
The casino has stood by its decision, insisting the dismissal was necessary to protect employees from Morin’s conduct. His lawsuit now moves forward, with both sides presenting conflicting accounts of the events leading to his departure. The case will determine whether the termination was justified or retaliatory.
