Sourav Ganguly selected as coach for Pretoria Capitals during SA20's 2025-26 tournament season
In a significant move, former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the head coach of the Pretoria Capitals for the upcoming SA20 season. This marks Ganguly's first-ever stint as a head coach in franchise cricket.
Ganguly, who is also the Director of Cricket at JSW, the co-owners of both Delhi Capitals and Pretoria Capitals, takes over from Jonathan Trott. The new co-owners of the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 league are JSW Group and the Sourav Ganguly-led organization.
The SA20 season is set to begin on December 26, and the Pretoria Capitals are expected to make bold moves in the SA20 player auction scheduled for September 9, as they look to rebuild their squad under Ganguly's leadership.
Ganguly brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Pretoria Capitals, having served as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal and the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The Capitals, who finished fifth in both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, missing out on the playoffs on both occasions, will undoubtedly benefit from Ganguly's expertise.
