Saguaro Energia LNG has a new leader: Sarah Bairstow takes on the CEO position at the Sonora-based company.

Sonora region energy company Saguaro Energía LNG announces Sarah Bairstow as its new chief executive officer.

In a significant development for the energy sector, Charles Davidson, Executive Chairman of Mexico Pacific and Partner at Quantum Capital Group, has taken the helm as the new Executive Chairman. This change comes as Mexico Pacific, a company known for its ambitious projects, prepares to begin construction of its flagship project in the second half of this year.

The company's primary focus is the Saguaro Energía LNG facility and the associated Sierra Madre Pipeline, a project that, if completed, would represent the largest private investment in Mexico. This project is a foundational pillar of the Sonora Plan, an initiative that promotes clean energy development and economic prosperity in the region.

Mexico Pacific's new CEO, Sarah Bairstow, brings over 20 years of international LNG and energy leadership experience to the table. Bairstow, who was a founding executive of Mexico Pacific, previously served as the Head of Strategic Projects and Commercial LNG for the Gladstone LNG Project.

The company's plans to export gas from Sonora, Mexico to the US have garnered attention, with Claudia Sheinbaum, presumably a government official, mentioning foreign firms have pledged US$20 billion in investments. However, it's important to note that no institution has publicly committed to providing this amount for the Saguaro Energía LNG project and the Sierra Madre pipeline in Sonora, Mexico. The identities of the investors in the project remain unidentified as of August 2025.

Amidst these developments, it's worth noting that some of the investments mentioned by Claudia Sheinbaum are old or uncertain. Despite this, the Government of Chihuahua has announced a strategic collaboration with Mexico Pacific, a move that underscores the potential impact of this project.

In a recent shakeup, Ivan Van der Walt, the previous CEO of Mexico Pacific, has resigned to pursue other interests. As the company moves forward under new leadership, the Saguaro Energía LNG facility and the Sierra Madre Pipeline remain key projects in the company's portfolio.

As the construction phase approaches, the focus shifts to the potential benefits this project could bring to the region, both in terms of clean energy production and economic growth. The future of Mexico Pacific and its projects in Sonora remains an exciting prospect for the energy sector.
