Sonnenhof Orthopedics Takes Over Emmental Hospital’s Orthopedic Department in 2023

Sonnenhof Orthopedics will take over the orthopedic department at Emmental Hospital near me from March 1, 2023. The move comes as part of an expanded partnership to address staff shortages and support Bern Canton’s new 4+ care model. All current doctors will remain in their roles under the new leadership.

The agreement places Sonnenhof Orthopedics in full charge of Emmental Hospital’s orthopedic services. This includes medical, organisational, and operational control of the department. The transition aims to secure long-term orthopedic care for the region.

Existing doctors at Emmental Hospital will continue working as attending physicians. Their roles will stay unchanged, though they will now operate under Sonnenhof Orthopedics’ management. The partnership also responds to broader healthcare challenges, including staffing gaps and the canton’s evolving care strategy.

The handover begins on March 1, 2023, with Sonnenhof Orthopedics leading the orthopedic team. The collaboration is designed to stabilise services and maintain quality care for patients. Emmental Hospital’s physicians will remain in place, ensuring continuity during the transition.
